Internship in Drug Development - Welcome Johannes Dehmer-Saelz!
Johannes Dehmer-Saelz is studying pharmacy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and is currently getting an insight into our cleanrooms at Frankfurt site!
He will not only get a taste of laboratory air, but also gain a deeper insight into our innovative technologies for the development and manufacturing of liquid and semi-solid dosage forms. Because when we asked him which area he would like to work in later, he answered promptly:
"In the long term, I would like to work in the field of drug development. It combines areas of pharmacology, formulation development and analytics, which I developed a particular interest in during my studies."
A clear message: we show him the complex processes that need to be taken into account when developing new medicinal products:
- Development of liquid dosage forms: What needs to be considered for nasal sprays, eye drops or injection solutions? From the first steps of galenic development to stability testing of the final product.
- Clinical trial manufacturing: How are batches for clinical trials produced under GMP conditions? A crucial process to ensure product quality and patient safety.
- Regulatory requirements: In addition to galenic and analytical challenges, drug development also means fulfilling all regulatory requirements.
- Innovative technologies: We show the potential that lies in innovative formulation technologies (e.g. wet milling and high-pressure homogenisation) for processing poorly soluble active ingredients.
We wish him an educative time with valuable insights for his pharmacy studies!
